Personal support for you and your baby in Lejre, Roskilde and across Zealand
Feeding your baby can be difficult, especially when you are trying to find the right help in a country where you do not speak the language. You may be dealing with painful breastfeeding, slow weight gain, unsettled feeds or a baby who struggles with the breast or bottle. Perhaps someone has mentioned a tongue tie, but you are unsure what that means for your baby.
I’m Louise Nabe, an IBCLC lactation consultant and nurse. I offer consultations in English and help families understand what is happening during feeds, what they can try now and whether further assessment is needed.
How I can help
I support families with breastfeeding pain, latch difficulties, milk supply concerns, pumping, supplementation and bottle feeding. We can also look at feeding when your baby is unsettled, takes a long time to feed or does not gain weight as expected.
If you suspect a tongue tie, I assess how your baby’s tongue and mouth work during feeding. The appearance of a frenulum alone does not tell us enough. I look at tongue movement, sucking, feeding behaviour and the symptoms you and your baby experience. We then make a practical plan for the next steps.
Gentle bodywork for your baby
If your baby seems tense, strongly prefers turning to one side or has difficulty settling during feeds, we can also look at their body as part of the consultation. I offer gentle craniosacral therapy for babies and can include it in the same visit when it is relevant and your baby is comfortable with it.
What happens during a consultation?
We begin with your story and your main concerns. I observe a feed when possible, assess your baby’s oral function where relevant and help you make changes that fit your situation. You will leave with clear suggestions and a plan you understand.
Some families need a few adjustments. Others need follow-up or help coordinating the next steps with other healthcare professionals. We take it from where you are.
